The solid colored silks are jewel-tones, which are highly saturated color tones that have a likeness to precious or semi-precious gemstones. Scripture mentions gemstones in the Old Testament (Ex 28:17-21)  where God designated twelve stones to represent the twelve sons (tribes) of Israel and told Moses to place them in a breastplate to be worn by the high priest.  The names of the tribes were written on the stones; but it is no longer known which tribe was associated with which stone.  Their identity and colors were lost. Scholars have agreed upon the principal colors of a few stones: sardius (red), ruby, topaz, emerald, amethyst, sapphire, chrysolite (greenish yellow), beryl (white.)  Some of the breastplate stones are the same as those listed for the Holy City in Revelation 21:19,20. As described by the apostle John, the wall of the city has twelve foundation stones with the names of the twelve apostles of Christ written on them.  The fabric samples above are close matches to colors associated with each of these Biblical gemstones.
